MALAGO and MALBAR
At the beginning of the first quarantine [covid 19], I asked people around me to send me a photo of themselves in a specific place in their home, representing themselves even when they are not present In the photo.
I asked for this in reference to the environment of the house, which during the epidemic became: inside and outside, at the same time “MALAGO- AND MALBAR” [inside and outside].
The domestic space, devoted to personal, internal life until then, became a kind of external space, where people spent many weeks. The walls and the objects took on the first dimensions of the person living in them, who suddenly had to re-choose his reflection in the house’s rooms.
The process of searching for the spaces that reflect the people photographed in the houses was a joint process, for them and me, full of deliberation – what is the domain of the home shell that will express them? in a way that is synchronized and accurate to them.
